SL34 is another selection from Scott Agricultural Laboratories in Kenya, derived from French Mission Bourbon stock. While closely associated with SL28, SL34 performs better at higher altitudes and in wetter conditions. The cup profile is similarly outstanding, featuring vibrant acidity, heavy body, and complex fruit notes including stone fruit, citrus, and berry, making it a staple of premium Kenyan lots.

Susceptible to coffee leaf rust and coffee berry disease as a French Mission Bourbon selection. Better altitude performance does not confer resistance; Kenyan farmers manage with copper-based fungicides and periodic pruning.
