Ruiru 11 is a compact F1 hybrid variety released by Kenya's Coffee Research Institute in 1985, named after the town of Ruiru where it was developed. It combines genetics from Rume Sudan, K7, SL28, SL34, and Timor Hybrid to provide broad disease resistance. While initially criticized for lower cup quality compared to SL28/SL34, improved selections have narrowed the gap significantly.
