Latte Art
The practice of pouring steamed milk into espresso to create decorative patterns—such as hearts, rosettas, and tulips—on the drink's surface. Latte art is both an aesthetic skill and an indicator of properly textured milk.
Detaylı
Latte art requires milk steamed to a microfoam consistency—tiny, uniform bubbles integrated into the milk rather than sitting on top as dry froth. The barista pours from a specific height and angle, manipulating the pitcher's position and flow rate to layer white foam patterns against the brown crema canvas. While often dismissed as purely cosmetic, latte art quality correlates with milk texture: if the foam is too stiff, too thin, or too bubbly, clean patterns are impossible. The World Latte Art Championship has pushed the art form to extraordinary complexity, with competitors creating multi-layered, free-pour designs.
