Sarchimor

Sarchimor is a cross between Villa Sarchi and the Timor Hybrid, uniting Costa Rican Bourbon genetics with disease resistance, and it was developed through the 1960s and 1970s. Its Timor Hybrid parentage gives strong resistance to coffee leaf rust, and Sarchimor lines generally cup better than Catimors at equivalent elevations, especially above 1,200 metres. The cup runs clean, with a medium body, moderate acidity and sweet chocolate notes, produced at very high yields and very good quality between about 800 and 1,600 metres. It also shows moderate resistance to coffee berry disease. Beyond its own cultivation, Sarchimor forms the genetic basis of several improved varieties, including Marsellesa and Centroamericano, making it one of the more consequential resistance-bearing lines in modern breeding across Latin America.
