Antioquia is Colombia's most iconic coffee department, historically the heartland of the country's coffee culture and home to the Paisa coffee-growing tradition. The region encompasses the rolling hills of the Eje Cafetero and extends into higher-altitude zones around cities like Jardín and Támesis. Antioquia coffees tend toward balanced, approachable profiles with milk chocolate, caramel, and mild fruit notes. The department's well-developed infrastructure and cooperative system have sustained consistent production for over a century. While not always the highest-scoring origin, Antioquia remains central to Colombia's identity as a premium coffee nation.
