Caturra is a natural dwarf mutation of Bourbon first discovered in Minas Gerais, Brazil, in the 1930s. Its compact size allows higher planting density and easier harvesting, making it commercially important across Latin America. Caturra delivers a bright, citric acidity with a lighter body than its Bourbon parent, and performs best at higher altitudes where it develops more complexity.

Susceptible to coffee leaf rust and coffee berry disease with no improvement over Bourbon parent. Dense planting can elevate fungal pressure; chemical management or altitude above 1,200 m helps mitigate rust incidence.
