Pache Comun is a natural Typica dwarf mutation found in Guatemala in the 1940s, and a related cross with Caturra, Pache Colis, also exists. Its compact structure suits high-density planting and wind-prone sites, and it yields moderately at good quality between about 1,000 and 1,700 metres. The cup is sweet and balanced, with soft acidity, medium body and pleasant chocolate and nut undertones. As a Typica dwarf mutation it carries no documented resistance and stays open to coffee leaf rust and coffee berry disease; its compact canopy can even raise humidity and fungal risk, so Guatemalan growers manage it with fungicides. Pache occupies a practical niche in Central American production, valued for its wind tolerance and easy harvesting rather than for exceptional cup scores.
