Gesha Village
अवलोकन
Gesha Village refers to the Arabica varieties grown at the Gesha Village estate in the Bench Maji Zone of south-western Ethiopia, close to the site where the original Geisha variety was collected. The estate cultivates several indigenous varieties at high altitude within a forest-coffee environment, and the resulting lots show terroir-driven complexity: intense florals, citrus brightness and the tea-like body characteristic of Gesha genetics. Yields are low and quality is rated excellent, produced between roughly 1,800 and 2,200 metres. As traditional Arabicas the trees remain susceptible to coffee leaf rust and coffee berry disease; instead of formal resistance breeding, the estate leans on forest agroforestry and elevation above 1,900 metres to suppress disease naturally. The name has become a mark of provenance for coffees traced to this specific Ethiopian origin.
