Apaneca-Ilamatepec is El Salvador's highest and most acclaimed coffee range, encompassing the Santa Ana, Cerro Verde, and Izalco volcanoes in the western highlands. The region reaches over 2,300 meters, making it one of the highest coffee-growing areas in Central America. Apaneca coffees are renowned for their exceptional sweetness, complex stone fruit and citrus acidity, and refined body with notes of honey and dark chocolate. The Pacamara variety, an El Salvadoran cross of Pacas and Maragogipe, reaches its fullest expression here, producing large beans with extraordinary cup complexity. El Salvador's Cup of Excellence winning lots originate predominantly from this range.
