Catimor
About
Catimor is a cross between Caturra and Timor Hybrid (Hibrido de Timor), developed in Portugal in 1959. The Timor Hybrid contribution provides strong resistance to coffee leaf rust, while Caturra brings compact stature and productivity. Catimor has been widely distributed across Asia and Latin America as the basis for national disease-resistant programs. Cup quality can range from clean and balanced at higher altitudes to astringent at lower elevations.
Disease Resistance
High resistance to coffee leaf rust from Timor Hybrid parentage (Robusta genetics). Moderate resistance to coffee berry disease. Widely planted in Southeast Asia as a rust-resistant replacement; resistance may erode against new rust races.
