Tanzania produces both Arabica and Robusta coffee, with the finest Arabica grown on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru in the north, and in the Southern Highlands around Mbeya. Tanzanian peaberry, where a single rounded bean develops inside the coffee cherry instead of the usual two flat-sided beans, is particularly sought after. The best lots offer bright, wine-like acidity with black currant and tropical fruit notes.
