About

Coffea canephora, commonly known as Robusta, is the second most produced coffee species worldwide. Native to sub-Saharan Africa, it grows well at lower altitudes and warmer temperatures than Arabica. Robusta beans contain nearly double the caffeine of Arabica, which acts as a natural pest deterrent. The flavor profile is typically stronger and more bitter, with earthy, nutty, and chocolatey notes favored in espresso blends and instant coffee production.
