Coffea liberica var. dewevrei

Excelsa, reclassified as a variety of Coffea liberica (var. dewevrei), is grown primarily in Southeast Asia and accounts for a small fraction of global production. Despite its botanical reclassification, the coffee industry continues to treat Excelsa as a distinct commercial category due to its unique cup profile. The beans deliver tart, fruity notes reminiscent of dark berries, with a lighter body than Liberica and an unusual combination of light-roast brightness and dark-roast depth.
