Yemen is the cradle of commercial coffee culture, where Coffea arabica was first cultivated and traded through the port of Mocha in the 15th century. Coffee is still grown on ancient terraced mountainsides at 1,500-2,500 meters using traditional dry-processing methods and heirloom varieties unchanged for centuries. Yemeni coffee is rare and expensive, prized for its wild, wine-like complexity with dried fruit, chocolate, and spice notes unlike any other origin.
