Bolivia is South America's smallest coffee producer but one of its most promising specialty origins. Coffee grows in the Yungas valleys northeast of La Paz at 1,200-1,800 meters, where steep Andean slopes and cloud forest microclimates create unique growing conditions. Bolivian coffees — primarily Typica, Caturra, and Catuai — are prized for their clean sweetness, stone fruit acidity, and caramel-chocolate body. The country's isolation has preserved heirloom Typica plantings rare elsewhere.
