Espresso is the foundation of modern coffee culture, producing a concentrated shot by forcing near-boiling water through finely ground coffee at 9 bars of pressure. The result is a small, intense serving topped with a layer of crema. Mastering espresso requires precise control of grind size, dose, tamping pressure, and extraction time, but rewards the barista with the richest and most complex coffee experience.
