Rwanda has rapidly established itself as one of Africa's premier specialty coffee origins since its industry was rebuilt after 1994. The country's high elevations (1,400-2,000m), volcanic soils, and government-supported washing station infrastructure produce coffees with bright citric acidity, silky body, and distinct red fruit and floral notes. Rwanda's fully washed Bourbon coffees from regions like Nyamasheke and Huye regularly score above 85 points.
